Recently purchased and installed a PCI Dual Serial Port card in my PC. Uses a CH352 chipset and driver.

Problem is - Cannot get it to connect to my TS570 or my other gadgets. (The PC's native on-board (COM1) works just fine with whatever I connect to it) I have a RS232 LED test adapter that shows the PCI serial ports behaving normally, in the same manner as the COM1 port. The handshaking is active and working - The DTR and DSR lines work to key my CW and PTT circuits. Just can't get it to TX/RX with my TS570 or my TNC. Anyone else have problems with these cards/chipset?

IF those ICs are used, and failed due to an ESD event -- you won't have a working RS-232 port. Newer versions of Maxim's UART to RS-232 (MAX232-series) chips have 15kV ESD protection! Chinese are traditionally NOT as good with firmware/software, as manufacturing. Many of their OS drivers are Windows 98 to WinXP.

PCI based dual UART and printer port chip CH352 Are you using Windows 7 for your OS?? IF SO, they didn't have a Win7 or Win8 version for this PCI card. The stuff that Greg posted was good thank you Greg. One thing that you may want to check is if the Port is set to DTE or DCE. Many adapters can run in either mode. And it does mater, Or you can use a Null modem adapter to get around the problem. Some times even with a Data Monitor with blinking LEDs it can be hard to tell what way the data is flowing.

FIFO toggle can help also. Sometimes problems can happen because of windows automatic port assignments. You should never use a 'Find this Driver on line'.

Look for the CORRECT driver yourself. Thanks for the input. I solved the problem by tossing the card in the trash bin! I only paid about $6 for it. I already had the WCH site info which I researched. I purchased a card branded StarTech with an Oxford chipset and genuine 16950 UART for $25.

Works great - on first try with supplied driver disc. (Win7 64Bit) Might be interesting to note the other card had a '16XXX compatible UART'. I used to use the USB to COM cables made by Prolific - worked very good, although a little sensitive to experimentation and got tired of toasting them. Also KA9JLM - Interesting comment.
