Hi Thanks for that but I have said code reader in my hand in front of me and it is clearly labeled MG Rover Group T4 Handheld Tester. It is an Omitec DTC4001A with Rover MG software loaded in it. Similar ones are available with Landrover software loaded in too. But.not wanting to start an argument on my first outing here, perhaps I should have been a little clearer with my description.

This piece of kit was available as an optional 'add on' to the T4 Testbook outfit. It was use was aimed primarily at smaller jobs like reading and clearing codes without having to fire up the testbook. I believe also you can code keyfob remotes with it too. Anyhow, if anyone has any further info on how I can get this units software updated to include the 75/ZT Im all ears. The software version comes up as soon as comms are established. Basically, I plug it in and the first message up on the screen is MG Rover Software version 2.0 I am then offered one of two options, 1.) MG Rover or 2.) EOBD If I choose 1.) I am offered pretty much all the recent MG and Rover variants as options inc. 200, 400, 25, 45, Mini and MGF etc but sadly for me, the 75 is not there.

Read & Clear Rover 75 fault codes. All models The codes are read correctly but the descriptions shown by the ACR4 are normally wrong and bear no relationship to the fault. Read ABS faults/ sensors. Usually 100% reliable 3. Read SRC faults. About 50% reliable from early to late cars. Read live data, but when engine is running it can be VERY unreliable.

Communication errors The fault is caused by the ACR4 failing to read valid engine data because it's too busy updating the display data. Reset service information display. The reader is just ok if you can get it cheap enough. Sample of fault reading when Coolant Temperature Sensor disconnected from engine, pictured below. You will see the fault noted is 0115 ENGINE SPEED (P0115), this should read 'Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit'.
